« My AI project & my future with AI »

Program : Applied AI — Beginner Level · Instructor: Yann Isola Final session: the big project + summary exercises

🚀 THE FINAL PROJECT — “Invent your AI application”

The brief

In a team of 3-4, invent an AI application useful , realistic And responsible . No need to code: you are the architects of the idea . At the end, you will present it in 2 minutes in front of the group. The public votes! 🗳️

The 3 golden rules:

  1. Useful 🎯 — it solves a real problem, for real people
  2. Realistic 🔧 — it uses AI capabilities seen in progress (text, image, sound, prediction, recommendation, etc.)
  3. Responsible 🛡️ — you have thought about data, bias and risks (remember session 6!)

Forbidden : “the magical AI that does everything”. If you can’t tell WHAT AI capability you’re using and WHAT data it’s learning from, the idea isn’t ready yet.

Step 1 — Storm of ideas (5 min)

Domains AI capabilities
School / revisions Understand and generate text
Sport/health Recognize images
Family/home Understanding voice / generating sound
Animals/nature Predict (from data)
Planet / ecology Recommend/customize
Games/leisure Translate/summarize

Example of crossing: Nature × Recognizing images → an app that identifies dangerous mushrooms in photos. 🍄

Step 2 — Choose ONE idea (5 min)

Vote in the team. Selection criterion: “Which one would most make you want to say THANKS to the app? »

Step 3 — Complete the project canvas (15 min)

📋 PROJECT CANVAS (to copy onto your sheet or to print)

Question Your answer
Project Name (catchy!)
The problem : what bothers people?
For whom? Describe ONE typical person
What does the app do? In one sentence
AI capacity used (text, image, sound, prediction, etc.)
Training data : what examples? where do they come from?
A risk (bias, privacy, error, etc.)
Our parade : how do we limit this risk
The “wow” moment : when the user says thank you

Step 4 — The poster (15 min, after the break)

On an A3 sheet: name + drawing/diagram + for whom + what problem + how AI helps + a risk and your solution . Large writing, readable at 3 meters!

Step 5 — The 2 minute pitch 🎤

📢 PITCH TEMPLATE (complete the gaps, then repeat ONE time on hand)

  1. The hook (15 sec) — “You know that moment where… [the problem told as a story]? »
  2. The solution (45 sec) — " Here is [NAME] ! It’s an app that [what it does]. Thanks to AI that [capacity], it learns from [data]. »
  3. Responsibility (30 sec) — “We thought about a risk: [risk]. Our solution: [parade]. »
  4. The fall (15 sec) — “Imagine a world where [profit]. This world begins with [NAME]. THANKS ! »

Pitch rules: 2 min max ⏱️ · everyone says at least one sentence · we look at the audience, not their sheet · we applaud all the teams 👏

⚠ A pitch repeated once is twice as good. Don't skip rehearsal!

✏️ Summary exercise 1 — “The map of my AI journey”

Duration : 10 mins · Format: individual, paper + pencil (100% without screen )

Draw a route in 9 steps (one per session). For each step, write:

Then complete these 3 sentences at the bottom of your card:

  1. “Before this course, I thought that AI…”
  2. “Now I know that…”
  3. “What I still want to discover:…”

💡 For the teacher: pick up a few (voluntarily) and read sentences 1 → 2 out loud: the before/after contrast is the best possible assessment of the journey.

✏️ Summary exercise 2 — “Advice for future beginners”

Duration : 5-10 mins · Format: individual then collective wall (without screen )

The next Applied AI promotion starts soon. Write on a post-it A piece of advice for a future participant who knows nothing about it. Constraints:

Stick all the post-its on the “Wise Wall 🦉”. Read aloud of the most useful/funny ones.

Examples of good advice: “Always check what the chatbot says, it invents with great confidence. » · “Give context in your prompts, the AI does not read your thoughts. »

🏠 To continue after class (to take away)

Your personal roadmap:

Bravo for these 10 sessions. You are no longer a spectator of AI: you are an actor. 🚀
